New Indica to be launched today

Mumbai, Aug. 22 Tata Motors much awaited new Indica which is christened Indica Vista will be launched on Saturday.

The launch, which is almost a year late from its initial schedule, comes at a time when sale of the 10-year-old Indica brand is declining in recent months. Indica reported a 32 per cent drop at 7,525 units in July.

Tata to produce electric version of Nano

According to a German press report, Tata Motors, which is planning to produce the world`s cheapest car selling at EUR 1,700, also has plans to produce an electric-drive version, reports Economic Times.

The E-Nano would be built in cooperation with the Norwegian electric car specialist firm Miljoebil Grenland. The Tata Nano is a small car aimed at the mass Indian market and is set to go on sale later this year.

Hero Electric to launch e-car in five years

NEW DELHI: Two-wheeler maker Hero Electric is planning to introduce an electric passenger car in the India by 2013, besides introducing battery driven three-wheeler.

The company has also firmed up plans to expand its product portfolio in e-bikes by launching two more products in the high-speed category during the current financial year and also venturing into solar energy sector.

Orissa opens doors to Nano project

NEW DELHI: Hours after Ratan Tata threatened to pull the Nano car project out of Singur, both ruling and opposition parties here in Orissa on Friday have declared that the states doors are open for the Tatas to shift their much awaited Rs 1 lakh car project.

Unlike the conflict between the Left Front government and the opposition Trinamool Congress over Tatas project at Singur in West Bengal , both the ruling BJD-BJP and opposition Congress in Orissa spoke in one voice to welcome Tatas Nano project.

Eicher, AB Volvo venture finalised!

New Delhi, Aug. 22 Eicher Motors Ltd and AB Volvo (Volvo) finalised their joint venture deal with the closing of definite agreements that were signed between the two on May 26.

EML has transferred its commercial vehicles business along with its related components and engineering design services businesses to its joint venture company with Volvo, VE Commercial vehicles Ltd(VECV). In addition to the businesses being transferred from EML, this venture will also contain Volvo Groups Indian truck sales operations and the truck and bus service operations. The operations of VECV are effective from July 1, 2008.

Mamata not bothered if Tatas drive out

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is not giving up on her principal demand the return of the 400 acres within the Nano complex even after Ratan Tata said in no uncertain terms on Friday that the Tatas would exit the Nano project in West Bengal if the violence in Singur continued.

She also indicated she would not withdraw or defer her indefinite stir in Singur from August 24, notwithstanding Mr Tatas anxieties over the outbreak of violence near the Nano factory. We will not stop our agitation until the land is returned ,Ms Banerjee announced.

We may pull out of Singur if protests continue: Ratan Tata

Kolkata, Aug. 22 Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group of companies, made it clear here on Friday that Tata Motors would not hesitate to pull out of Singur, the location of the Rs 1 lakh Nano car project, if the employees of the company and the ancillary units continued to face violence and disturbance.

We do not want to come to an area where, we perceive, we are unwanted, Mr Tata observed while addressing newspersons at the end of Tata Tea Ltds annual general meeting here. We are deeply concerned about the safety of our people and equipment.

Singur plant project will continue, says Bengal Industry Minister

Kolkata/Chennai, Aug. 22 The impasse will be contained and the project at Singur plant will continue, Mr Nirupam Sen, West Bengal Industry Minister, said on the sidelines of a meeting with various Chambers of Commerce here on Friday. I have already assured Mr Ratan Tata and I am also open to talk with anyone else on this, he told reporters.

The government is open to discussions and is willing to explore proposals, only if they did not hamper the progress of industrialisation in the State and is well within the legal framework, Mr Sen said.

Tata Indica Vista Brochure leaked!! Launch 23rd August!

The all new new Indica, christened the Indica Vista will be launched officially tomorrow, that is the 23rd August. Before the official launch, brochure were leaked and is all over the net. The new Indica will co-exist with the existing Indica, of which the Vista being the highest version.

The car will be launched with 3 engine options 1.2L Saffire (petrol), 1.3L Quadrajet diesel and the 1.4L turbocharged inter-cooled engine. The 1.2 Safire Petrol produces 65bhp and a torque of 96Nm. The 1.3L quadrajet pumps out 75bhp and torque of 190NM @ 1750rpm.

2010 Chevrolet Optra/Cruze Official Pictures!

Note that this is the first Official pictures of the 2010 Chevrolet Cruze, which will be the Chevrolet Optra when it reaches India. GM is currently running on losses, so they hope to catch up with the market with small cars. The 2010 Chevrolet Cruze/Optra is said to be launched in 2009 end. The CEO of GM Rick Wagoner announced that a sum of $500 million would be invested to build the 2010 Chevrolet Optra/Cruze.
